What is your all-time favorite movie?

Do you love watching movies? What type of movie do you enjoy most? Is there a particular movie that outshines all the others you've seen? Well let's talk about it, share with everybody your comments and impression on your favorite movie (or maybe movies)!

So I'll go first. I'd say I'm a movie junky, I'm into almost all types of movies and films. Up until now (and probably forever), my favorite movie is The Legend of 1900. I'll never be tired of watching it. Every a few months I feel like watching it again, and each time it inspires something new inside me.

There is an old Chinese proverb, "A tree that moves dies, whereas a man who moves lives." I used to think that it just tells us to be flexible, to learn to adjust ourselves whenever the environment is changed, and whoever is as stubborn as a tree ends up to be a loser.

However after seeing The Legend of 1900, I found a new way of understand the proverb.

The "pessimistic" pianist refused to get off the ship, and sure he died, just as the proverb says. The movie would have been no more than a tear-jerker if that were what it's all about. Fortunately there is much more than that.

The point is, 1900 is a man, AND ALSO A TREE! Physically he is a man, but mentally he's a tree. His view of the world, his way of thinking, his lifelong experiences, his music, that is whatever related to his spirit, is just a tree sown on the ship, rooted, nourished, and finally formed. The limited space on the ship inspires infinite music inside him. There is no way he could be aparted from the ship, for once he is, his spirit must die like an uprooted tree.

So what if it were me? What would I choose? What if it were you who is reading my post right now? Would you choose to live the rest of your life off the ship with your soul burried under the wreck? Or would you rather die with the ship to keep your soul intact all through your living years? I bet, whoever with a real aim in life, would make the same choice as 1900 did.

No one likes to talk about movies? Come on, you have to have seen some movies and among which there must have been one or several that impressed you most. Why not tell us about it?

after watching the legend of 1900, i thought i fall in love with Tim Roth's sad eyes...and i once remembered i commented on that movie that I dont dare to get off the ship and I dont also dare to die with it. So 1900 is a bold guy.
My favorite movie is Brave Heart by Mel Gibson...also very inspiring... 2# elena_hao
